Manager Gary Peters has said the temporary move is almost certain to be rekindled when Tudor regains full fitness.

And the former Wolves, Cambridge and Leyton Orient right-winger insists he is still desperate to prove himself with Shrewsbury.

"I'm absolutely gutted," said Tudor. "I haven't missed a match or hardly a training session for 12 months and then this happens.

"There is no real pull in the hamstring - it's just a bit tight and it's taking a bit longer to clear up than I would have hoped.

"I came out to play games and I was confident I could do well because I got promoted from this League with Glyn (Garner) at Leyton Orient before.

"I was looking forward to showing the Shrewsbury people what I could do and I think I could make a difference.

"I will go back to Port Vale and try and get fit over the next few weeks and see what happens. But my understanding at the moment is that I will come back when I'm fit."

Tudor insists he has been impressed with what he has seen from Shrewsbury.

"It's a great set-up,there's a good bunch of lads here and the manager is superb," he said."He gives each player an individual DVD after every match and people don't see how much he does behind the scenes. Forget nine-until-five, he's working seven-until-late."

Shrewsbury reserves are in action at West Bromwich Albion tonight (7pm) with on-loan Stuart Nicholson playing against his parent club, and Chris Humphrey returning to feature against his former team.

The full Shrewsbury team is - Ryan Esson, Darran Kempson, Luke Jones, Harry Hooman, Chris Humphrey, Danny Hall, Neil Ashton, Tom Moss, Steve Leslie, Stuart Nicholson, Dan Evans.
