He said it had been an honour to be Samantha's boyfriend. The pair had been dating for about four months and had met about a year ago when they worked together.

"My Sam, such a caring giving person that filled my last four months with so many wonderful memories that will live with me forever. She was very happy, outgoing and generous and very loving," he said.

"For four months we more or less did everything together and I have such good memories," he added.

In a tribute, which Mr Proxton, who works for a marketing company, posted on the Shropshire Star's website, he said: "I didn't realise how much you touched my family or our friends, but it is very clear now.

"The one person I need to give me a hug and tell me we will all be okay is you hun. It was, is, an honour to be your boyfriend."
