Daleks will invade a county museum next month.

Dr Who's arch-enemies will be the stars of the The Shropshire Model Show at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford on April 5.

More than 70 clubs from across the county will exhibit intricately detailed models including aircraft, cars, bikes, trucks, Dr Who figures and other science fiction memorabilia.

Organisers said An Audience with the Daleks was back by public demand and would run up to three times a day. More than 40 traders will also be in the museum's hangars.

A tombola will run all day and the show will host an open competition for modellers of all ages and abilities to show off their creations.

Organiser Gary Stevens, of Ellesmere, said: "With over 40 traders and over 70 club displays, I estimate there will be just short of 500 stall members at the show – some travelling from as far away as Plymouth, to sell and display their models.

"This show provides these dedicated model enthusiasts the opportunity to display and show off the skills involved in making elaborate models, ranging from aircraft to boats and trains and to swap those all important tips and hints with other enthusiasts and members of the public visiting the show.

"The depth of skill and dedication on display is truly breathtaking. All-in-all it adds up to a great family day out."

Visitors can also view the museum's three hangars and the award-winning National Cold War Exhibition. Entry and car parking is free. The museum is open from 10am to 6pm with last admission at 5pm.
