He is set to resume his role on Team Ant on the popular ITV1 programme.

He was voted off the team, which competes against Team Dec in a head-to-head feature after a less than stellar singing performance on the show last month.

But he has been invited back for the final episode in the series – and one final challenge.

He said: "Ant and Dec have kindly invited me back on to the show and with the scores so close, I am hoping to secure a victory for my Team Ant mates.

"I cannot say what the challenge is yet, but I will do everything I can to make sure we win," he added.

"I really hope my friends and constituents in Montgomeryshire enjoy seeing me represent them on the show."

Mr Opik, Liberal Democrat MP for Montgomeryshire, will re-join TV presenters Yvette Fielding and Jonathan Wilkes, comedian Brian Conley and former Atomic Kitten member Liz McClarnon.

Mr Opik's performance of S Club 7's classic pop single Don't Stop Moving led him to being voted off when Team Dec's team sold more copies of their single, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, originally performed by Wham!

The Mid Wales MP is no stranger to TV shows and is a regular guest on the satirical Have I got News for You.

He also appeared on Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Al Murray's Happy Hour.
