Singing sensation Daniel Crossley, 13, of Madeley, beat off competition from 150 acts to win the title in last night's final at The Place in Oakengates.
He wowed the crowds with his version of "Listen" by Beyonce. He performed against the other 11 finalists to sweep the board with 177 votes.
Runners-up The Hit Brothers got 70 votes. Julia Socket, organiser of the first event of its kind in the town, today said it was an overwhelming success. "It was amazing, brilliant," she said.
"Everybody was impressed with how it was staged and the performers were fabulous.
Finale
"The theatre was packed with 578 people who enjoyed every second of it. "All of the acts were excellent, but when Daniel performed you could see the audience warmed to him straight away.
"The audience broke out into applause after each of his choruses and then he did a huge finale and got a standing ovation. We knew then he could win it."
The votes came from the judges, the acts themselves and the audience. After watching soloist Daniel, Councillor Stephen Bentley, of Telford & Wrekin Council, told him: "It was a privilege to be in the same room and watch you perform this evening."
Mrs Sockett said Daniel planned to spend his £250 prize on his singing career. All those taking part received vocal coaching, choreography and hair and make up to make sure they reached their full potential.
A total of 385 people made up the 150 acts which went through auditions in Newport, Telford, Hadley and Wellington in January.
