Shropshire soap queen Gabrielle Drake is set to make a comeback to the small screen after landing a role in Coronation Street – in which she first appeared more than 40 years ago.
The 65-year-old actress, who lives in Much Wenlock, became a living room favourite starring in the Midlands-based soap opera Crossroads.
Gabrielle was due to start filming scenes for the Street today.
She is said to be playing a posh, elegant character called Vanessa who is involved with a lonely hearts club who according to reports meets Corrie characters Bill Webster and Pam Hobsworth.
The Sun newspaper today reported a source saying: "Gabrielle is involved in a funny storyline which sees her and her partner eyeing up Bill and Pam when they meet in a hotel."
Gabrielle, who has been starring in theatre productions for the past few years, first appeared in Coronation Street in 1967 when she played a sexy Swede called Inga Olsen.
