Their owner, farmer Tom Evans, is calling for anyone who might have seen the 6ft birds to contact him so he can capture them and return them to their rightful home.

The other birds have already been returned.

Mr Evans, of Wheatcommon Lane, Ashford Carbonell, near Ludlow, made the appeal after the birds escaped and attacked a member of the public.

Earlier this month Mr Evans used a trail of bread to lure the rheas back to their enclosure.

But he said today that he still had two missing and he would like to hear from anyone who spots them so he can go and round them up.

"The other ones are back at the farm. They will feed out of your hand, they are quite tame," said Mr Evans.

He said previously that he believed that foxhounds may have scared them into escaping from their enclosure. One of the rheas, he said at the time, was prone to jumping and escaping.

Anyone who might have seen the birds should call Mr Evans on (01584) 831546.
