Three victims of the Shrewsbury blast were today due to meet up for an emotional get-together at the hospital where they have all been treated.

Sam Devine-Turner and friend Scott Godbold were planning to visit Sarah Pearse at Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham.

Sam, 19, and Scott, 23, were released from the hospital last weekend after being treated for serious burns following the explosion at the corner of Bridge Street and Smithfield Road.

Their friend Annie Davies is in the same hospital as Sarah. The women, both 19, were today described as stable.

Sam's father Paul Turner, of Moston Road, today said his daughter had been buoyed by the news that Sarah had been downgraded from a critical condition.

Mr Turner said: "Sam is meeting at Selly Oak today with Scott and Sarah and her parents. Sam actually saw Sarah yesterday and she was able to communicate with her which has lifted her spirits."
