Expansion at Cruckton Hall School may create 50 jobs
Up to 50 new jobs could be created at a school near Shrewsbury as part of £3.5 million expansion plans.
Cruckton Hall School, in Cruckton, has tabled plans to build a new three-storey drama building and a two-storey reception and administration building in the school grounds.
The main entrance and existing sports hall would also be improved and there would be additional parking provided.
The boys' boarding school, which caters for those with special needs, would see pupil numbers rise from 92 to 114 – an increase of 23 per cent – and up to 50 new teaching positions would be created over the next five years.
The move comes after holding company Kisimul bought the Grade II-listed school out of administration in 2007 and completed its purchase earlier this year.
Brian Wareing, development director for the school, said: "We are now trying to put in the investment it has always needed to move the school into the 21st century.
"Jobs will be created over the five-year project and pupil numbers will also rise but not a significant amount.
"The investment will represent about £3.5 million."
