The Oswestry Round has been written by Dave Andrews and wife Jane Trudgill to raise funds for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fun at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where Dave received treatment last year, and for Cancer Research UK. The book gives directions for a 33-mile route which combines part of Offa's Dyke Path and the Montgomery and Llangollen canals to form a circular walk around Oswestry.

Dave, who has written a number of guides and contributed to articles on mountaineering, said: "We were really keen to repay the wonderful staff at the Lingen Davies Centre and I revived an idea for a book which first occurred to me about eight years ago, soon after I'd completed a round of the Munros, the mountains of Scotland over 3,000ft."

The Borderland Rotary Club helped secure funding from local businesses to publish the guide and is selling the book for £6. It is available at tourist information offices or by sending a cheque made payable to "Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club" to Spring Cottage, Wern, Weston Rhyn, Oswestry, SY10 7LH.
