More than 40 children danced, ate food and celebrated at a Christmas party in Market Drayton. Father Christmas was the guest of honour at the town's Royal British Legion's headquarters in Church Street.

Trevor Waters, Market Drayton Royal British Legion committee member, said the children's party on Sunday was a great success.

He said: "We have received lots of positive feedback and thank you messages from everyone who went along.

"There was lots of games and one of the highlights was the visit from Father Christmas. It was a nice Christmas atmosphere. We try to put something on for all ages in the community."

The next event at the club will be a New Year's Eve dance. It will be held from 7pm and will feature entertainment from The Lie Detectors. Tickets costing £12.50 are available from the club.
