Bridgnorth Sun Fest 'is a real washout'

An annual charity concert may have failed to make any money after wet weather saw potential visitors stay away.

Organisers have described this year's Sun Fest at Bridgnorth Rugby Club's Edgar Davies Ground as a "washout" – and said it is likely the event has made a loss.

But they said money saved from previous years will help to cover the cost and may ensure that the festival can be held next year.

The event has been held for four years to raise money for Bridgnorth Music Festival. Ian George from Bridgnorth Rugby Club, who was one of the organisers of Sunday's festival, said: "It was a bit of a washout.

"You try and put these things on but unfortunately the British weather was not in our favour.

"The bands still played, we had to rearrange the stage because the rain was coming in and the wind blew the cover off but the bands were really good. To be fair there were still a few people that came out."

In previous years the event has attracted thousands of revellers, but heavy winds and rain over the weekend dampened spirits.

Mr George added: "I don't think we have made any money, in fact we have probably made a loss."
