Shrewsbury Fields Forever: Anger vented over axed festival

Ticket holders and business leaders have hit out over the treatment of customers following the cancellation of Shrewsbury Fields Forever.

People have taken to social media to show their anger with many accusing the festival organisers of not doing enough to help those who have now been left out of pocket.

The festival, which was originally scheduled to take place in July, was set to be held in September.

The company behind it, Forever Invasion Ltd, cancelled the event last week and started the process of liquidation leaving ticket holders and ticket agent Skiddle out of pocket.

On the event's Facebook page, Joel Campbell, of The Campbell Group behind Jailhouse Tour events at Shrewsbury's Dana Prison, said he believed the organisers would have known months ago that the festival would not go ahead.

He said: "I personally find the whole organisation, communication and situation ticket holders find themselves in absolutely disgusting. The team and directors of the SFFF should be ashamed of themselves.

"They will have known months ago that they were unable to run the festival and continued with the charade that it would go ahead while this was never going to be the case."

Along with many others, Mr Campbell suggested the company had tried to "shift the blame" to Shrewsbury Town Council, which withdrew its permission for the festival to be staged in the Quarry after failing to receive assurances from organisers.

He said: "If the event is truly being stopped by the council, then it stands to reason that the event company should still have the ticket money safe and sound in their bank. If this were the case then they should have no problems refunding the tickets, and looking to set up other events elsewhere."

Nobody from the festival was available for comment.
