Review: Hormonal Housewives, Wolverhampton Grand
A tiny sprinkling of very brave males turned out in support of their WAGS at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre last night, as 1980s pop princess Toyah Willcox and the cast of Hormonal Housewives flew into town on their broomsticks to begin a run of this hilarious comedy.
It's a light-hearted look at all things female through the eyes of three middle- aged woman, and providing you can see the humour in someone else's sex life, PMS, bodily functions and other personal aspects of growing older, you'll be entertained.
There are outstanding performances from three accomplished comedy actresses – Miss Willcox, Julie Coombe and Sarah Jane Buckley – covering subjects including chairman of the PTA, Spanx pants, dieting, 50 Shades of Grey, exercises classes and old age.
The 'men' jokes came thick and fast as the gal pals regale tales of their respective hubbies and there wasn't a woman in the audience who could not relate to them.
Julie Croome brought the house down with her hysterical Cher tribute, but in terms of laughs a tiny performance by the mysterious Greek god (aptly named 'Zeus') had everyone literally doubled up!
The show is also on tonight at the Wolverhampton Grand. Call (01902) 429212.
