Sophie Bould, who attended St Dominic's School, in Brewood, will star in A Christmas Carol at Birmingham Repertory Theatre from November 25 to January 9.

The actress, who is now based in London, will return to the West Midlands prior to the first night so that she can rehearse with the crew and cast.

The new adaptation of Charles Dickens' famous Christmas Eve tale is set to be one of the Repertory Theatre's smash hits as Ebenezer Scrooge is taken on a journey through the vivid and enchanting worlds of past, present and future.

Today Miss Bould said it would be great fun to appear in the West Midlands and she would be visiting Shropshire during the run.

Miss Bould said: "I'm delighted to be appearing in A Christmas Carol during November, December and January at the Birmingham Rep. I'll be looking forward to catching up with family and friends."

Miss Bould graduated with a first class degree from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, having previously attended the National Youth Theatre.

She has appeared on TV programmes including The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Holby City and found fame in 2007 when she appeared at The Palladium in Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Sound of Music.
