Pan will fly as theatre stages first panto
The first pantomime to be staged at Shrewsbury's new Theatre Severn will kick off tonight - oh yes it will!
The town's pantomime is much anticipated each year and has previously been staged at the Music Hall.
Organisers Spillers had wanted to stage Peter Pan for many years but had to wait for the new theatre to be built because the Music Hall did not contain the right equipment to make the characters fly.
However, this year organisers got the chance they had been waiting for.
Emmerdale's Matt Healy will be greeted by booing and hissing as he plays arch villain Captain Hook.
The show will also see the introduction of Dean Winters as Smee and a starring role for Samantha Dorrance, who has previously appeared on the Disney Channel.
The play, based on the book by JM Barrie, will run until January 3.
Tickets are £12.50 or £10.50 for concessions. Telephone (01743) 281281 for details.
