Werps in a time warp
A photograph published in the Shropshire Star, sent in by Mr Pringle-Scott of Priorslee, stated it was of the so-called lost village of the "Werps". But no such village existed.

The Werps was actually part of the village of Jackfield and lay on the opposite side of the river to the Old Coalport China Works.
In his letter, Mr Pringle-Scott mentions the General Gordon pub, which was quite far back from the river bank.
I can remember the names of some of the people who lived at the Werps, in fact I went to school with some of them.
People were still living at the Werps in the 1950s.
