The world-famous RAF display team are heading to the county as a thank you to the airbase personnel and their families for all their support during the year.

Personnel at RAF Shawbury regularly support the Red Arrows with the logistics of attending various shows up and down the country.

And on Friday, the airbase will play host to the team, who are due to give a 25 minute show in the afternoon, weather permitting.

The event is being held for RAF Shawbury's annual families day, meaning only personnel and their families can access the base.

But members of the public can enjoy the show from outside. Officials from the airbase have asked motorists to park with care so as not to clog up small roads around the perimeter fence.

Squadron Leader Neil Hope, community relations officer at the base, said the Red Arrows were due to be joined on the day by other aircraft including a US F-15 fighter jet, Battle of Britain Spitfire flypast, a Royal Navy Merlin helicopter and a Chinook helicopter. The Red Arrows are scheduled to begin at 4.30pm.
