A Mid Wales post office has been temporarily closed because of staffing issues, it has emerged.

The Post Office said today it was working hard to restore services at the Abermule branch, near Newtown, but no reopening date had been set.

Customers now face a trip to Newtown and Kerry after Saturday's closure. Post Office spokeswoman Val Bodden said it shut because the agent running the service had retired.

The Post Office was looking to re-establish services at the branch as soon as possible.
