MP Kawcynzski call for Libya to repay UK help

Libya should help foot the £300 million bill for the cost of the UK's military intervention in the country now Colonel Gaddafi has been deposed, Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawcynzski has claimed.
Mr Kawcyznski, chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Libya Group, said the end of the dictator's reign was 'thanks, in no small part, to the military contribution from the UK'.
He said the estimated cost of the operation stood at £160 million, with the expense of replenishing munitions believed to be about £140 million.
"The concept of a nation being reimbursed for protecting the vulnerable is not an absurd one, nor is it without precedent," he said.
"Following the liberation of Kuwait in the First Gulf War, the British Government received more than £2 billion from other nations to cover operational costs – with a significant contribution by Kuwait herself," he said.
