They arrive on horseback, in classic cars, on tractors, quad bikes . . . and even a vintage double-decker bus.

But all are intent on the same thing – making their prom night one of the most memorable occasions of their lives.

Schools across Shropshire have been turning on the style for their end-of-year proms, when students get the chance to dress to impress, and make a grand entrance.

We invited pupils, their parents and schools to send in pictures from their prom nights; and they have come flooding in. This is just a small sample of the pictures we will be carrying in a special eight-page Prom Night supplement on Monday.

Ludlow College students turned on the style at a sumptuous Hollywood-themed event in the town's Assembly Rooms. The party was organised by Joanna Smith, from the college's marketing department, and Tom Wain, president of the Student's Council.

Tom said: "I thought the night was a great success. Everyone turned out, all dressed up and looking amazing."

At the opposite end of the county, around 200 Marches School pupils in Oswestry invaded the swish Lion Quays resort.

Meanwhile, nearby Rhyn Park School was holding its prom at Henlle Golf Club in Gobowen, where Lauren Drury and James Harris were crowned prom queen and king.

All around the county, pupils have been letting their imaginations run riot. In Shifnal, Idsall School pupils Emily Kimber and Jade Simcox arrived at their prom on horseback, and there were limousines and vintage buses on duty for the prom held by The Grange Secondary School in Shrewsbury.

And in Telford, pupils from The Charlton School were greeted by a stilt walker making animal-shaped balloons at the Whitehouse Hotel.

Send us your prom pictures. Email images, along with details of the school and those in the photo, to internet@shropshirestar.co.uk
