More than 70 firefighters are tackling a large gorse fire on the Stiperstones which has been burning for more than six hours.

The blaze broke out on Oak Hill shortly before 3pm and smoke from the fire can be seen from more than 10 miles away.

Firefighters from across the county have been sent to the scene, but officials at the scene said due to the rocky terrain they would have to wait for the flames to reach the top of the hill before they could put the fire out.

It is not believed anyone has been injured and it is not yet known what caused the fire.
