People left puzzled by Shrewsbury tree ducks
You wouldn't normally expect to see small, white ducks sitting in the tree tops – especially when they're made of plastic.
Mystery surrounds the appearance of ducks which have suddenly appeared hanging from trees in Shrewsbury. Residents awoke this week to find toys in several trees in different parts of the town. So far, nobody seems to have any idea where they came from, or why they are there.
Now shoppers and residents, who say the 'charming' ducks put a smile on their faces, have launched an appeal to find out who is behind the wacky stunt.
The ducks have cropped up in Oteley Road, between the Sutton Road turn and the Weeping Cross island and a number of other locations across town, including one on Castle Street.
The birds, which each have a small number on them, have left residents baffled.
Kyla Davies, from Clive Road, Monkmoor, said she had seen a number of the ducks in the past few days.
"I have spotted a few here and there and I have no idea where they have come from or why they are there, but they are quite nice. It looks like they could be part of the Christmas decorations," she said.
Derek Evans, who lives in Poole Rise said he spotted the first duck about a week ago and now there are more than two dozen.
"I don't know who is doing it, or why they have chosen these little ducks, but it is quite funny to see them popping up," he said.
"They have numbers on so it looks like they could have been used in a race, but asking around nobody seems to know."
