Deuxhill Village Hall, located close to Bridgnorth, was one of the lots up for sale at a property auction held at Ludlow Brewery last night.

The village hall had been owned by the local parish council but has now been sold to a private buyer from the Wolverhampton area who intends to turn the site into a home.

The building had been given a guide price of between £95,000 and £125,000 ahead of last night's auction.

Phil Herdson, from agent Phipps & Pritchard, said the building had been deemed "surplus to requirements" by the parish council, leading to the building being put for sale.

"The village hall was not being used. It was a former school and then used as a parish hall," he said.

"They didn't use it for functions and it was surplus to requirements."
