Telford retail park and homes hit by power cuts
Residents and shoppers faced disruption today as stormy weather led to power problems in Telford.
The electricity at about 4,500 homes in Ketley, Lawley and around Telford town centre went out for five minutes at about 11.45am.
And businesses at Forge Retail Park were also affected, with staff saying the power was going on and off from about 10.30am and into the afternoon.
Michael Clarke, a spokesman for Western Power Distribution, said: "About 4,500 properties were affected by a power cut at 11.45am.
"Thankfully they were only without power for five minutes. We apologise for any inconvenience."
A worker at Sainsbury's supermarket said: "There were queues anyway with people doing their Christmas shopping so it didn't help that the tills and the phones were going on and off."
And a member of staff at Thomson Superstore said: "The power was flickering on and off all morning from about 10.30am."
