Caravan fire in Minsterley

A caravan fire sparked a blaze in a patch of woodland.

Around 260 square metres of woodland and grass caught alight following the caravan fire in Hope near Minsterley.

Fire crews from Minsterley were called to the scene just after 6pm last night and began extinguishing the blaze with three hoses, with the fire extinguished within an hour.

Less than an hour later, crews from Shrewsbury were called to reports of a tree fire on Mary Webb Road in Meole Brace.

The fire, covering four square metres, was close to a children's play park and crews from Shrewsbury Fire Station were called at 6.45pm.

One hose was used to put out the fire by 7.05pm.
