Man airlifted after car overturns on Shropshire border

A man has been airlifted to hospital after his car overturned on the Shropshire/Powys border.

The incident happened on the B4386 between Chirbury and Marton, near Montgomery at 9am today.

The driver of the car, a black Nissan Pixo, was airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Claire Brown, West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman, said: "We were called at 9am to an overturned vehicle near to Chirbury.

"There was one male inside the vehicle and he was treated by paramedics and a doctor at the scene."

Lois Hough, Wales Ambulance Service spokeswoman, added: "We were called at 9am to a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the B4386 in the Chirbury area.

"We responded with an emergency ambulance, a BASICS doctor and a Wales Air Ambulance and one person was airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. It is not known how serious his injuries are."

Sian George, Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman, said: "We were called to an overturned Nissan Pixo near Churbury.

"The male driver was airlifted to Shrewsbury with injuries not believed to be life-threatening."

A spokesman for Mid & West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, added: "We sent one appliance from Montgomery to make the vehicle safe."
