Body found in river formally identified as missing Daniel Hodgin

The body discovered in the River at Cressage has been formally identified as missing man Daniel Hodgin.

The 20-year-old from Madeley in Telford was reported missing in the early hours of Sunday, November 23, following a night out with friends in Shrewsbury.

His body was found at around 12.25pm on New Years Eve by West Midlands Search and Rescue Teams. His family and the coroner have been made aware.

His death is being treated as unexplained at this time.

DS Rob Mountford said: "Our thoughts go out to Daniel's family and friends at this very sad time. This is a tragic loss of life, of someone so young.

"All of our officers involved in the investigation into Daniel's disappearance have shown a great deal of commitment and professionalism, and we'd particularly like to thank West Midlands Search and Rescue for their integral role in the search."
