A five-car crash caused the closure of part of a road in Telford.

The A518 New Trench Road was shut off between the Clock Tower Island and the Garrison Island just before 5.30pm.

West Mercia Police said there had been no injuries as a result of the smash but it had caused delays.

Thirty minutes earlier one lane of a section of the A5, the county's busiest road, was closed during rush hour following an accident this evening.

The road was partially shut off just after 5pm from the Dobbies island towards the Edgebold island in Shrewsbury.

Police said the accident involved a single vehicle and no-one is believed to have been injured.

The road was quickly reopened fully but caused slight delays.
