Motorist, 25, denies causing Shropshire border death crash

A man has denied causing death by dangerous driving after a motorist was killed in a crash on the Powys/Shropshire border.

Robert Jones, 25, appeared at Shrewsbury Crown Court yesterday where he denied the charge.

The case was adjourned for trial on a date to be fixed later this year. The trial is expected to last up to four days.

Jones, from Llansantffraid, was released on unconditional bail.

Andrew Trevor Watkins died after being involved in the crash on the A495 near Llanyblodwel, near Oswestry, on April 2 last year. Mr Watkins, 59, also from Llansantffraid, died when the silver Peugeot 307 he was driving was involved in a collision with a black VW Caddy.

The Peugeot also struck a road sign, ending up on its roof.
