Shropshire car dealership strikes deal to take over Mid Wales franchise
Shropshire car dealership Greenhous has completed a deal which will see it take over a Ford franchise in Mid Wales.
The company is spreading its operation back across the Welsh border with the takeover of the franchise of W R Davies for the Newtown and Welshpool areas.
"18 months ago we announced the acquisition of the WA Lewis franchises in Shrewsbury and Telford which increased our influence and reach in the automotive world," said Greenhous's joint chief executive Derek Passant.
"Now we have had very positive and professional discussions with Jonathan and his team and this has concluded in our taking on the Ford franchise in Newtown and Welshpool, including the staff already working there.
"We are utilising our extensive resources and expertise to ensure that there is a smooth transition for all involved. We are delighted to welcome Ford into the Greenhous Group."
The marque will join the likes of Vauxhall, Volkswagen, Volvo, Renault, Nissan, Toyota, Dacia, and van chain DAF in being represented by the Greenhous Group, which before this deal had dealerships across the West Midlands.
Mr Passant added that he was 'delighted' with the way negotiations with W R Davies's principal, Jonathan Davies, proceeded.
Remaining dealerships in the WR Davies chain across North Wales and Stafford are expected to remain in the group.
The move is not expected to affect any jobs.
And the dealerships will remain open once the deal is complete, it has been revealed.
The Greenhous Group is one of the Sunday Times top 100 privately owned businesses.
And it is also consistently ranked in the Motor Trader and Automotive Management Top 20 Dealer rankings in the country.
