A telescopic handler went up in flames at about 6.45am at the farm at Hopton Cangeford.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said a heavy pumping unit, water carrier and appliances from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms and Ludlow were sent to the fire as a precaution, because of fears the fire could spread to a nearby barn.

However, on arrival crews were able to put out the burning farm equipment by 7.30am, using a jet and thermal imaging camera, before it went any further.

The vehicle was damaged but not destroyed and the cause of the blaze is being investigated.
