With this 'wing' I will marry you! Special proposal at RAF Cosford
Heather Needham watched on with pride as her boyfriend Michael Benbow graduated as a leading aircraftsman – blissfully unaware that her officer and gentleman had a surprise in store.
Moments after the graduation ceremony at RAF Cosford ended, Michael was called back on to the stage – where he got down one one knee, produced a ring and asked Heather to marry him.
Happily Heather said yes, to cheers from officers in the audience who were in on the surprise.
Heather met Michael just over a year ago on a night out in Wolverhampton's Planet nightclub – and it was love at first sight.
"I have been planning to propose to Heather for a while, and think she had an idea that it was going to happen soon, so I kept telling he it wouldn't be on graduation day," said Michael, who graduated from No 1 Radio School.
"So she had no idea I had actually been planning to propose to her during graduation since November. I don't think it could have gone better and admittedly I think I cried more than her."
The couple, both 23 will soon be moving to Hampshire as Michael will now be based at RAF Odiham.
