Body found in car as police close Shropshire road
Police closed a main road in Shropshire after the body of a woman in her 60s was found in her car.
The 69-year-old, from Wales was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics on the A49 near Onibury last night.
Police said the incident was not being treated as suspicious.
Chloe Drinkwater, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "West Mercia Police were called to an incident on Sunday night at around 8.30pm in Onibury, Craven Arms, in which a 69-year-old woman from Wales was found deceased in her vehicle.
"The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ambulance Service. Police are not treating her death as suspicious and the coroner has been informed."
Police closed the A49 near Onibury in both directions between the A4113 junction in Bromfield near Ludlow and the B4368 Clun Road junction in Craven Arms.
The Highways Agency reported the closure and said the road would not be open until the early hours of the morning.
A diversion was set up to allow traffic around the incident.
