It urges police to find, arrest and take action against anyone who may have goaded Mr Lam before he fell.

The petition attracted thousands of signatures in the space of hours after it was launched by Telford resident Ceri Ransome in response to people calling on Mr Lam to jump.

Police have questioned and released one man in his late 20s following reports about the behaviour of onlookers.

Detective Inspector William Scott said: "We are currently in discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service to establish whether any individuals involved committed offences for which they could be prosecuted and if so we will take appropriate action."

A fundraising target set by the wife of Ian Lam has now raised more than £6,000.

Mr Lam's wife Mary launched an appeal at https://www.justgiving.com/Ian-Lam to raise £100 for Fable – For A Better Life with Epilepsy – following the death but it has already collected £6,174.85 from 390 donations.
