Man rescued from river after trying to save a lamb in Ludlow

A man was rescued after falling into a river while trying to rescue a lamb this afternoon.

He fell into the River Teme at Bromfield, Ludlow, at about 5pm today.

Four fire and rescue crews attended the scene along with paramedics who checked him over but did not take him to hospital. He was rescued using a ladder.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "He wasn't taken to hospital, he was warmed up, after being in the river he was a bit cold so he was warmed up, the paramedics checked him over and he was fine so wasn't taken to hospital.

"He fell in trying to rescue a lamb."
