Crime and safety fears over Market Drayton pub opening times extension

Fears have been raised over crime and public safety if a Market Drayton pub is allowed to extend its opening hours.

The Kings Head, in Shrewsbury Road, has applied to Shropshire Council to open for half an hour longer each night taking its closing time to 12.30am on Monday to Thursday, 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays and midnight on Sundays.

But the plans have received an objection from a local resident who fears the longer opening hours could have an impact on "crime and disorder, public nuisance, public safety and protection of children from harm".

The decision will be made at a Shropshire Council meeting of the licensing sub-committee on Monday.
