Simon Wright will join The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH), which runs the Royal Shrewsbury and Telford's Princess Royal hospitals, this summer.

He is currently deputy chief executive and chief operating officer at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He will take over the running of SaTH from Peter Herring, who is retiring in July.

Mr Wright said: "I am looking forward to playing such a vital role for the health and wellbeing of patients and communities across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales."

Mr Herring , 61, in accordance with the requirements of the NHS Pension Scheme, retired from the trust for 24 hours in April 2014 before returning part-time for a month and then resuming full-time duties. As a result of the move he earned £440,000 for the year 2013/14.
