Woman taken to hospital after crash near Shrewsbury

A woman in her sixties was taken to hospital after a crash on the A458 at Cross Houses, near Shrewsbury which has closed the road.

The woman had to be cut out of the car at 2pm this afternoon and has been taken to hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "The woman who is in her sixties was freed with the help of the fire service. She had cuts, grazes and back pain.

"She was treated at the scene, which included the administering of pain relief, and was taken by land ambulance to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said: Four fire appliances including the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Baschurch, Shrewsbury and Wellington. "An Operations officer was in attendance.

"Crews used cutters and spreaders to deal with the incident. When officers arrived there was one saloon car on its roof with one person released by crews extricating using Holmatro equipment. She was taken to hospital by land ambulance."
