Third teenager charged in Shrewsbury gun probe

A third teenager has been charged over an alleged incident involving a gun in Shrewsbury last week.

A 16-year-old boy, from Liverpool, has been charged with one count of using a firearm or imitation firearm to resist or prevent a lawful arrest and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was due to appear at Telford Magistrates' Court today.

At around 6am on Thursday, June 11, police received a report that two males, who were thought to have a gun, were attempting to force entry into a property in a street in the Ditherington area of Shrewsbury.

A pistol, which is believed to be a replica, was recovered by officers yesterday. It is currently being examined.

A second 16 year-old male who was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of possession of a firearm and on suspicion of assaulting police remains on police bail while enquiries continue.
