Man taken to hospital after crash between taxi and lorry in Telford

A man was taken to hospital after a collision between a taxi and a lorry in Telford this morning.

Three fire engines including the rescue tender were sent from Telford and Wellington stations to the collision on Station Road, Dawley.

Police and an ambulance were also called to the scene just before 6.15am.

Chris Kowalik, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received a call from the police at 6.11am.

"One ambulance and a rapid response vehicle attended. This was a car verses a lorry.

"Driver of the car was a man in his 50s. His car was badly damaged but he managed to get himself out.

"Assessments at the scene showed no visible injuries but he did have chest and hip pain.

"Following on scene treatment, he was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."

Fire crews left the scene just before 6.30am.
