Emma Louise Lucas, aged 39, from Keats Avenue, Stafford, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice on June 23 after a jury heard that she provided a false alibi for her partner, Kevin Hyden.

As part of the same trial, Hyden, aged 35, formerly of Glebe Steet, Telford, was found guilty of murdering 59-year-old Davinia Loynton and sentenced to life in prison.

Davinia's body was discovered in her flat on St John Street, Wellington, Telford, on September 22, 2014.

DCI Neil Jamieson said: "Today's sentencing sends out a strong message that covering for someone who has committed a crime will not be tolerated. This should serve as a warning to others."
