Man, 22, knocked unconscious in Oswestry robbery

A man was knocked unconscious in a robbery in Oswestry.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack in the early hours of Monday.

The 22-year-old victim, was walking home between midnight and 12.30am when he was approached from behind by another man at the junction of Fir Grove and Chestnut Avenue.

A police spokesman said: "As the victim turned to look at the offender he was punched to the face and pushed to the floor, where he is thought to have been knocked unconscious.

"The offender then kicked him and stole £20 and a cigarette lighter from the victim's pocket. The victim sustained a minor facial injury as a result."

The robber is described as being in his mid 20s to early 30s, about six feet two inches tall, of a stocky and muscular build, with short or balding hair. He was wearing a tight white T-shirt and had a sleeve tattoo on one of his arms.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or a man of this description in the area at the time, is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 11S of Monday 20 July.
