Robin and Louise Mitchell have agreed to open their Old Hall home in Cressage to raise funds for the mayor's charities.

Councillor Yvonne Holyoak will welcome guests while music will be played by the Kitchen Club, a band named after the area of the house where they hold rehearsals.

Councillor Holyoak said: "It is a fantastic garden, which swoops down to the river. This will be a wonderful chance to see these gardens and to raise money for a host of Much Wenlock charities."

The mayor said she is enjoying the chance to experience the talents of musicians, like members of the Kitchen Club, during her year of office.

She attended the Three Choirs Festival at Hereford Cathedral on Saturday as part of her year-long mayoral duties.

She said: "The choirs come from across the region to form a huge choir with about 100 members.

"It was a wonderful service with an orchestra and soloists. The performance was one of the best I had ever seen and we also enjoyed a parade through the town in all our regalia in some lovely weather."

Councillor Holyoak also attended a civic service for Councillor Leon Murray at Wellington Methodist Church on Sunday, who took his place as the new mayor of Telford & Wrekin Council.

She said: "It was a great chance to carry out some networking and all these events give me the opportunity to discuss issues with other mayors and dignitaries."

The Old Hall tea party will be held on August 23 from 2pm.Ticket priced £12 include afternoon tea and entertainment.
