Man dies after being hit by train in Shrewsbury

A man believed to be in his late 30s has died after being struck by a train in Shrewsbury.

West Mercia Police have confirmed a man was killed at about 6.35pm last night.

A spokesman said: "At approximately 6.35pm on Thursday, August 6, West Midlands Police were informed of an incident at Stanley Lane, Shrewsbury where a person had been struck by a train in the Stanley Lane area.

"No formal identification has taken place but the body of a male believed to be in their late 30s has been recovered from the scene."

British Transport Police are now conducting an inquiry into the circumstances of this incident.
