Motorist assaulted in Shrewsbury roadside robbery

A motorist was assaulted and robbed  in Shrewsbury after he pulled over to make a phone call.

The 34-year-old pulled his car to the side of the road on Sunday at around 8pm on Bage Way.

While he was doing this, another car, described as possibly an Audi A3, pulled up behind him.

Three unknown men then exited the car and approached the victim's vehicle, a blue Renault Clio, before assaulting him.

The victim managed to escape from his car and flag down a passing vehicle, dropping his phone in the car in the process.

When he later returned to his car he discovered his phone had been taken and the windscreen and nearside window had been smashed.

The victim attended hospital for his injuries.

Police are keen to speak to any passing motorists who were in the vicinity of Bage Way who may have witnessed the incident, as well as the driver of a red Rover 200 or 214 that stopped to assist the victim.
