Incy bit wince-y over giant spider

It is like a scene from a black and white horror movie or Honey I Shrunk the Kids.

A giant spider sculpture is the latest addition to a visitor attraction in Shropshire.

The huge black arachnid towers over a walkway at the British Ironwork Centre, south of Oswestry. Its arrival has already been met with some horror by those staff who don't like spiders. But the real test will be the reaction from visitors to the sculpture park this weekend.

Sarah McManus, from the centre, said: "We would love to see lots of visitors. They can walk under the spider if they are brave enough. It has arrived just in time for our Halloween trick or treat event at the end of October and we expect it to be very popular."

Terry Waite, the former peace envoy, was today visiting the centre as a VIP guest and was signing copies of his novel. On Sunday the British Ironwork Centre will host a Clash of the Titans tug-of-war competition.
