An entire bingo hall full of Telford players is in the money – after sharing a £100,000 jackpot.

The 121 players will each receive more than £800 from their night at Mecca Bingo in Telford.

The hall, at Southwater in the town centre, came out on top in Mecca's Halloween Firecracker stunt last Saturday. And tomorrow the hall is throwing a party for all 121 players to celebrate the win.

The jackpot came in a game in which each hall across the UK was presented with numbers to tick off.

The number 10 was the last to come up in Telford, sparking wild celebrations.

Tomorrow, all the winners will receive their £830 cheques at the party.

Susan Graham, general manager at the club, said it was "fantastic" for Telford players as it was one of the smaller halls taking part.

She said: "The atmosphere in the club was absolutely electric. Everyone there was chanting 10 as we waited with bated breath for the number to be drawn, and it was certainly a party atmosphere when our luck came in and the number was called.

"Our event this weekend is set to be a great party and I hope that anyone who fancies a fun evening will pop along to celebrate the good fortune of our Halloween customers."

The party will take place from 6pm at the hall in Southwater Square, where there will also be a Bruno Mars tribute act.

Bingo players across Telford have been coining it in for for some time after Globe Bingo in Donnington paid out more than £45,000 in just four days.

That winning streak began in August when an elderly man won the top prize of £25,000 and the good luck continued a few days later when a woman in her 40s took the national prize of £20,000.

Last year, one Telford resident managed to take home £92,800 at the same bingo hall in Donnington. The woman, who remained anonymous, could have won double the amount, but it was split with another player from the other side of the country.
