Shopkeepers boost Shropshire Star's toy appeal
Big-hearted shopkeepers Harmesh and Susan Jassel will help make it a memorable Christmas for children in Shropshire this year after donating a large collection of gifts to our Christmas Toy Appeal.
The couple, who run Hadnall Village Stores, in Hadnall, near Shrewsbury, have bought around 25 toys for the appeal, which is being run by Shropshire Star in partnership with Shrewsbury-based Storage King.
They handed in the collection of toys at Storage King's headquarters at the Battlefield Enterprise Park in Shrewsbury.
Mr Jassel, who has been running the shop in Shrewsbury Road with his wife for 16 years, said every year they put something aside for charitable causes. "We always do something every year, we put something aside for charity, and we read about the appeal in the Shropshire Star," he said.
All toys will be used to help bring a bit of festive cheer to children who would otherwise be facing a difficult Christmas.
They will be distributed between charities including Hope House Children's Hospice, The Harry Johnson Trust, Climbing Out for young people who have suffered life-changing injuries, and Parents Opening Doors for children with disabilities. The children's unit at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust, and the children's services teams at Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin councils, will also benefit.
Storage King is one of six collection points. Toys can also be handed in at the Shropshire Star offices at Ketley Business Park, Waterloo Road, Telford, Bellstone, Shrewsbury and Salop Road, Oswestry. There are also collection points at Southwater One in Telford and Toys R Us in Shrewsbury.
