An Oswestry care home has been told it must improve in the latest round of inspections.

The report for Llysfield Nursing Home, in Oswestry, was one of 83 made public after a recent latest batch of visits by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

It has been given a 'requires improvement' rating, one up from the worst, 'inadequate'.

But inspectors agreed that residents were treated "with kindness and respect".

Llysfield Nursing Home, in Middleton Road, provides accommodation with nursing care for up to 30 people.

There were 25 people living at the home on the day of the inspection.

An inspection team visited the home unannounced on September 30 this year.

Inspectors said people's privacy and dignity was not consistently protected.

They said during their visit one person was examined by the doctor in the lounge where other people were present.

But the report praised the staff for supporting people to take part in activities or outings of their choosing. Inspectors also said medicines were managed safely.

Johannes Nang-Bayi, registered manager, said: "We wrote to the CQC about some of their comments. We were not happy with some of the wording.

"They only spoke to three out of the 25 residents and the three people they spoke to had memory issues so we feel the information was not a true reflection.

"We were disappointed with the report. There were a lot of good things said but this was not reflected in the ratings.

"We have already implemented changes. We need to have more contact with patients and residents."

Another care establishment, Bradbury Lodge care home in Whitchurch, was rated 'good'.

The home, in Claypit Street, provides accommodation and personal care for adults who have a learning disability for a maximum of six people. On the days of the inspection, on July 23 and 24 this year, four people were living in the home.

Inspectors said people told them they felt safe living in the home and staff knew how to keep them safe.
